Biking Holidays in Auvergne - France Bike Tours
Auvergne
Auvergne bears the traces of now-dormant stony and fiery giants: crater lakes and alternately rounded or sunken, stony or wooded landscapes form Europe's most extensive volcanic expanse. This spectacular scenery can be quite challenging for cyclists but its extraordinary beauty makes it worth the effort - from the Cantal massif to the Chaîne des Puys, by way of the Sancy massif and the Artense plateau. And the terrain can also be more gentle, as in Livradois-Forez, with its ancient forests, pastures and vast green fields. Auvergne is also a land of water, famous for its mineral and thermal springs, like those in Vichy and Volvic; a land of art and history, with its incredible Roman heritage, castles perched on granite rocks and some of the most beautiful villages in France; and a land of traditions and culinary delights, from the cutlery of Thiers to delicious and famous cheeses (Cantal, Saint-Nectaire, Fourme d'Ambert, Bleu d'Auvergne, Salers). In short, the ideal destination for diehard cyclists with a taste for culture and great food!
